Mares Nemo Apneist vs. D3

I am new to freediving and needing to purchase a computer. I am leaning towards the Nemo Aneist over the D3. What do you guys recommend?

dont know much about Nemo apneist but Suunto makes some good diving computers. by know D4 should be out on the market, it replaces D3 and it's supposed to be a good gadget if you can afford the price.

Re: Mares Nemo Apneist vs. D3

I have the Nemo Titanium and my feeling is that it is superior to the D3 in all areas except for the storing of profiles. I checked the Apneist manual and it looks like they improved this area. Sampling rate for profiles is now 1s - same as D3, but the Nemo has a much faster sensor, giving you more accuracy. Also the profiles for freedive can now be viewed on the watch (before only after download to computer). Only thing that is still annoying is that it stores the profiles only of the last session.

If you can have it at a decent price, than I would surely get the Apneist. Depth interval alarm is the way to go

After checking the D4, I was not really thrilled about the upgrades, at least I think the sensor got better.

IIRC, the Nemo only has a sample frequency of 0.5Hz, one sample every two seconds, that is not enough for me.

Now I know all the details on the nemo are on DB somewhere, with some searching You'll find 'em. Personally, I'm happy with the D3, it does all it needs to do and a different computer will not make me a better diver.

Where did you find the data on the sample frequency? The rate at which it stores depth for the profile is 1s on the Apneist. I'm not sure though which rate you mean.

For the rate at which the sensor reads the depth, which I think is more important than how frequently it stores it for the profile, from my testing, comparing the Nemo with Mosquito (same hardware as D3), the suunto was lagging behind. Meaning if you went down fast and swept your hand down, and go up, than the Nemo recorded a few cm more depth. If you went down and spend a few seconds there, the readings were equal.

But unfortunately you don't find the 'speed' of the sensor in any tech info... I think except the F1/X1
