Re: Freediving on YouTube

It was a learning experience. I'm just using Windows Movie makes since i already have it on my computer and didn't want to investing any extra software. I'll take your suggestions to heart about the transitions for future projects.

Not all of the fish were shot on the same day. When the pipe is on the water is warm and the fish are active. The days that the pipe is off the fish are sedentary and I can grab them by hand. Some days I bring a gun and other days I just take my camera. I had a friend make me a camera mount for my gun so I can shoot photos/videos while I hunt.

I put the disclaimer in at the and so some hook and line guy doesn't get all upset thinking I'm harming [i]his] fish.

My first digital camera was an Olympus 5050 with an INON dome lens. My latest one is a Casio Z-1000 in the Casio case for it. I don't like the fact that I can't put a wide angle lens on it, but the super small size of the thing and the fact that it's a 10Megapixel camera with double the video capabilities of my last camera more than make up for it.

Re: Freediving on YouTube

nice looking mount Jon, machined aluminium and stainless, very pro!!! I will be happy with half as good a job with my Panasonic TZ3 to omer cayman attempt next week.

Did you notice extra drag or balance problems hunting with the cam. mounted? I am worried as I dive in a very weedy area.

Re: Freediving on YouTube

I had a lot more issues with my first generation camera mount system. I had the bar too wide and it caused more drag than it needed to. My last camera was also about four times as big as the one I'm using now- which is about the size of a deck of cards.

I do notice a bit of extra drag from the housing and the gun doesn't swim through the water as nicely as it would if the camera where not there, but i don't know of a better way to go for the money.

One thing I would do different it I were to do it all over again is to move the camera up further on the barrel- maybe just in front of the trigger mechanism. The way it is now it just worked out perfect the way the gun was made- custom mid-handle made by some guy in Hawaii. I only had to remove one screw and replace it with a larger/longer one for it to mount.

In the future, when the prices come down, I could see mounting one of those small cameras that are about the size of a shot glass onto the barrel of my Pneumatic. I've seen them advertised for helmet mounts that you can use while mountain biking or skiing. They get wired into a small recorder which could be worn on your belt. They are MUCH smaller than the old Seavue systems from just a couple of years ago.

For now I'm happy with what I've got.

Re: Freediving on YouTube

If you want to be informed about new freediving videos on YouTube instantly after they are uploaded, I have now added several video RSS channels to the APNEA.cz news feed. The RSS feeds include news also from other video websites (Google Video, Metacafe, Daily Motion, Pierre Frolla's WebTV, Immersive Video Journalist, ...).

You can either see the newest videos on the APNEA.cz homepage in the global news, or in a filtered view for videos (enter cat:video into the search box), or for Youtube only (enter site:youtube). If you do not want to have to go to APNEA.cz at all, you can place the news feed on your Google home page, or subscribe to the RSS feed with the help of your browser, email reader, or one of many RSS readers. You can find more details about the RSS in this thread: http://forums.deeperblue.net/general...tml#post693560

You can also place the video news (or others RSS channels) on your own website or blog too - either with common XML tools, or even simpler by copying a line of code, in the way described here: APNEA.cz - News Feeds

without getting into the ethical issues, captivity/freedom etc, this is still quite an amazing display of man and dolphin:

Re: Freediving on YouTube

I just stumbled onto this video. It's been out there for awhile, but I didn't see it on here. There are two incredible Blue Fin, one was 235kilo and the other 299 kilo (585lbs and 660lbs). Just seeing a fish that big is amazing.

Re: Freediving on YouTube

Hey Scott, another cool video.
I'm still amazes about the amout of fish you've got there. Must be great for learning how to spear fish, plenty of slow swimming fearless targets.

Thanks-

They are slow until they see you- then they take off.- but they are big targets and fun to shoot and wrestle into submission.
