Great Pranayama Read

'Pranayama - The Yoga of Breathing' by Andre van Lysebeth
Alot about negative ions and research confirming the logic of Pranayama in the begining - which is interesting - but also a very lucid orientation with regard to the purpose and how it works. It's also free of all the yammering on about the writer that characterizes most books on this sort of subject.

A very straightforward and comprehensive read without waxing pedantic.

I find 'big picture' books like this more useful than say Iyengar's Light on Pranayama - which - with all respect - gives way to much instruction - at least for my learning style.

Re: Great Pranayama Read

I agree 100% with you. Van Lysebeth books are really nice. Anyway, I have just read 'Light on Life' by B.K.S. Iyengar, and was way more interesting to me than other 'Light on...' by Mr Iyengar

Cheers

Re: Great Pranayama Read

'Pranayama - The Yoga of Breathing' by Andre van Lysebeth looks really interesting. It is also the book Pelizzari refers to in his manual concerning yoga and breathingtechniques. Does someone know where to get it for a reasonable amount of money? At Amazon you can get it from 199,95 USD!!!

The site's in French, as well as the books sold on it. The English translation seems to be rare - it's sold upward of 200$ used. For those who can use it, the original French edition can be found on the web for 50-60$ secondhand.
