I was hoping someone had a specific pool work-out that they like and could post it for me. Is it better to do some cardio work for 20-30 minutes and then into some breathing sets?
I have been a waterpolo player and basically lived in the ocean my whole life so i am very comfortable and capable of doing a difficult workout. I have been an avid freediver, basically learning on my own, but now want to take it to the next level. Please help! A specific work-out is what I am looking for. -Peter |

My suggestion is to pick up a copy of 'Manual of Freediving' by Umberto Pelizzari and Stefano Tovaglieri. It has excellent advice to improve swimming technique as well as several pool training exercises. It is a very comprehensive book. The techniques and exercises are discussed well into the book, the reason for this probably being that they want you to understand why you are doing what you're doing before you just jump in a pool and follow the pictures. It's completely informative and interesting. A great investment for any freediver in my opinion!

Yes its a very good book, I am sure anybody on here will agree and recommend it.
Nobody can offer you a specific work out, because everyone is different. Set yourself some long-term goals, some short term goals, find out how to reach those goals (eg: constant ballast goals means you can train cardio and dynamics etc etc, or long statics train o2/co2 tables and relaxing), and work at them. Finally, do not take anything people say on these forums as the reality of things. Its a public forum. Anyone can post anything, without you knowing if it is safe, if it will work for you, or if they have even tried it. Use your own judgment, and the instruction of those you personally know to be experienced.

hi beldo,
well said penguinator. anyway jump in the pool from dry first thing in the morning in FRC, no fins, no mask, do a static on the bottom until first contraction then swim off slowly for a MAX... WITH Your buddy watching ofcourse. Then do a series of these (for 45 minutes or a little more)... but not max. the choice is yours

You can also register at apnea.cz - the interactive Apnea Training Manager offers around hundred of diverse freediving exercises both static and dynamic) and it is growing. You can also add new exercises or modify present ones.
