Hello everybody, ive invented a new system to attach the line from the float to yourself, ive made a working prototype, scaled drawings and pictures to illistrate its funtion, its made out of plastic for anti corrosion, ive also added an extra with the line also how it works and something extra special, it all works perfect, and can demostrate it anytime, ive contacted a few companies about my idea, they want me to send my idea, but ive done that before and lost my idea over disloyalty...Can anyone point me in the right direction and ideas about approaching companies would be great..The idea is brand new theres nothing on the market the same as this..It would make life so much easier for every spearfisher using a float, also if theres anyone out there from a spearfishing company this would be a brillant oppertunity for you if we could meet and discuss the product in person, I know for a fact that this product will be massive ive already had alot of interested from friends who also spearfish alot, who too want one

Probably the only relatively safe way to protect any invention is patenting it, but it is usually not quite cheap (check out with your local patent office). Intellectual property, such as diverse publications, programming code, graphics, etc., can be also protected by copyright laws. It is cheaper - you can publish the work, or send it in a registered letter to your lawyer or notary, or even to yourself. That's an inexpensive way of protection, but am afraid it would not work for this type of invention.

Maybe after you patent it... can you make a small batch and sell them locally and over ebay? Or find some friendly dive shop to test sell your item? If it sells well, company might come to you instead.
