both seem pretty good, divefit is probably similar to pfi since Martin used to be with pfi. Divefit is cheaper but pfi offers more locations, both are highly regarded, I'm taking a pfi course cause I wan't to go to Kona. Both companies have promo videos on youtube you can check out. Both are good about answering questions if you email them.

I'e heard good things about both. I'm taking the FIT course in April. I don't think you can go wrong with either. One of the guys I've dove with took the class from Martin and said it was a great experience. I can wait to meet Paul Kotik, he seems to have an interesting sence of humor! I'm looking forward to a good time and lots of learning!

I have been instructed individually by both Martin and also by Kirk and Mandy and can say FOR SURE you will like either course that you choose. Imagine it is like getting a golf lesson from Tiger Woods, you know FOR SURE it will be fun and interesting.
Cheers Wes

I was supposed to do advanced with PFI because I loved intermediate class with Mandy and Kirk, waaaay beyond expectations.
I just can't go to Kona with my family and feel bad about going myself. For this reason I am going to Martin's new school soon but I am sure it will be just as great experience as PFI. They're the same blood If You still have problem to choose maybe select it based on location convenience, to make it easier. |

I have only experience with Martin / FIT but would highly recommend it. He's just one of those people who "has it". I don't mean the knowledge, results and whatever - lots of people have that. But the experience as an instructor and some natural talent also in that area (verbal communication, breaking things down into concrete examples, visualization, spotting and correcting errors).
Plus he's just a cool guy all in all. As is Paul, don't be intimidated by his deeperblue persona

Either will be excellent, no matter what your skill level or area of interest. Having taken the PFI course with both Martin and Kirk teaching, my impression is that it is best at making fairly knowledgeable divers much better. Martin seems to be pitching his effort more at a wider range of skills. If you have limited experience, Divefit might be the best of two very good options.

I just took the FIT Level II course too. I came home from the course with pages and pages of tips & tricks that I will be using from this day forward. I can't recommend it highly enough. It's really a great course. I already signed up for the Level 3 course.

Just FYI, folks: "divefit" is just the web URL for Freediving Instructors and Trainers, otherwise known as FIT. There ain't no company called "Divefit" !
FIT's Level II course is well-suited to experienced, proficient freedivers as well as to the newbies. FIT's students are mostly South Florida residents, mostly quite experienced. Year-round diving here lets one's experience accumulate quickly! I'm going tomorrow, in fact. Should be cool - a wrecked oil platform in about 30-35 meters.

You had better ask that question via the contact email of the respective companies. Personally I would dare to say that level 2 requires fair experience and comfort in the water, where as Level 1 does not.

hello smartpart,
i just got back from the PFI intermediate course in Kona and it was fantastic. i think you can't go wrong either way. Mandy, Kirk & Martin are all very accomplished, knowledgeable and super nice people. i was thrilled with the level of personal attention PFI gave me and amazed at my own personal progress because of their instruction. i am going to continue with the next PFI level (advanced) - i'm hooked! kp |

I'm taking the Kona PFI intermediate course in feb. super excited, last week when I was about to register for it I found the course was being auctioned on ebay to raise money for Divers alert network, so I ended up getting the class for about half the price. Now I can afford a new suit
