Looking at the pictures from Herberts record, it looks like he used a pipe mask. I know there were diskussions here about them. Is anyone using such a mask?

i know people who use pipe masks. . i`m sure there are down sides but ive never taken one below 30m and it felt real good especially cause you can use the nose clip with them. Easy to make and by far the cheapest way of seeing and using a clip i reckon.

ok to make your pipe mask you are gonna need a small length of
silicon hose, nothing like as thick as the one shown in the picture (above link). Not sure where you`d find this pipe maybe aquarium shop ??? anyhow not much thicker diameter than a straw. Next the mask- not sure who makes them but they are for swimming and have no nose piece .. basically just a one piece goggle. Make a hole in the bottom corner of the mask. The hole is in the silicon NOT the lense! A hole puncher works really well. Next fix a small piece of pipe into this hole. This is the trickiest bit as it must be a good seal. Experiment with silicon & glu. It wants to be set up so when you wear the mask the pipe just comfortably sits in your mouth. If you made it right you`ll not even notice it. After using a few times you`ll equalise it without realising and dive with both hands out like all the freaks who can equalise just by thinking about it.......... phew |
