Hi Everyone
Well, tomorrow, Thursday 23rd, I am travelling to Gansbaai on the Cape coast, one of the better known hunting grounds of the Great White shark, where i am travelling out to sea, and hopping into a cage with the hope of meeting one of these magnificent creatures eye to eye ! A one-one meeting with a great white can never be planned, so it's down to a bit of luck, but I will have my U/W camera with me , so if I am priveliged enough to meet with royalty...I will post the pics and story on DB tomorrow evening. So here's holding thumbs ! C-Ya Jeff

Will be interested to know how it goes with the whites.
Here in Southern California, last weekend I went out with my 8-year-old son on a dive boat doing a shark trip. They stopped a few miles offshore Catalina Island and started chumming. No great whites would be showing up in this case -- we have them here, but they're strictly reef creatures and we were in far too deep water. Instead we got a mixture of small to middling size blues and makos. The boat had a cage, but unfortunately its screen wasn't well-suited for photography. A number of folks put on scuba gear and went down lines to hang at ~20 ft outside of the cage looking at blues until a good-sized mako showed up, whereupon it was everyone-out-of-the-water. My best shots ended up being topside ... ![]() |
