I was chatting with flyboy748 the other day and commented at the 18 lbs of body weight I've lost this year. He told me that is to be expected since the water I've been diving in has been consistently below 40°F and more recently, around the 32 - 36°F mark. He says the body can burn as much as 1200 calories an hour.
Does anyone else have any experience with this?

Freefloat,
I got that info (1200 cal/hr.) from Terry Maas' book "Freedive!" That info was apparently according to a U of California study using a 175 lb. male subject, and was given as an average. Here's a great thread on this topic to check out... http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthr...threadid=30468 It seems everyone agrees that the colder the water the more calories you burn though. Happy diving, and make sure you keep you're calorie intake up eh?? Aaron
