pb static better on competition or training

hi,

i was at the parisian meeting 19th of march, and i was suprise about the static level.

most of the people are on about 3', few at 4', and almost nobody at 5' and more.
is the level always like this because i think it is very low. may be it is the stress.

so i'd like to know if your are better on competition or training in your static.

thanks

P.S i saw tanya streeter in blood and flesh and she's gorgeous

Re: pb static better on competition or training

I my self and most people I know do better in training. Competition eats anywhere from 30-60 sec from my best. But I'm not very experienced in competing yet, I expect this to narrow down as I get more, but I don't believe I will surpass my pb's in competition.

For some, competition is a reason to push more than normally and it may motivate them to break their record, but for someone who's training to the max anyway, this effect is not seen.

How ever much I plan it (or in fact, if I plan it too much), I always manage to mess up warmup in competition, get a bit excited in the beginning (higher heart rate) etc, and being aware of those things it usually don't push "'till the end", but rather conservative, since I know I can easily bring my self to samba if I decide to.
