I reckon the Ox Tox would get you before the BO - do NOT attempt a dive on pure O2!

Definitely NOT a good idea!
Some of the first scuba systems used pure O2, and they were very dangerous because even at relatively shallow depths there was a high risk of convulsions. There is an account of this in Jacques Cousteau's book The Silent World. Lucia

Agreed... that was a scubadive that Pipin did I find Tom's 2 experiment interesting, but not as interesting as his 10 minute 'real' breathold in training. Now that's impressive Peace, Erik Y.

It is if you breath it for too long or at too high a pressure...Just one more reason not to try it. It's dangerous even for people who know what they're doing.

There is a lot of info and apparently a lot of world class athletes are using pure O2 in training. The basic thought is if you increase the work load the body will get used to it and try to maintain the accustomed work load when breathing atmosphere air.
This theory probably wouldn’t help in static, but I have always thought it could in dynamics. The thing that could be the most beneficial is getting used to doing more laps. In my dynamics so much of it is a mental game of whether I should turn and go for another lap. If I was used to doing more laps maybe it would come more natural. Plus in dynamics you wouldn’t have O2 toxicity problems. I tried breathing pure O2 once before a dynamic. I only took a couple of warm up breaths and the finally breath. I was not comfortable, because of the position of the O2 equipment and the person who was suppose to take it when I was done didn’t seem to comprehend what they were suppose to do. The dynamic was worse then normal. Don
