Just a theory but....If someone has low blood pressure would that mean that they would do better at freediving? I mean, isn't that the whole point of training, to slow your heartbeat which in turn lowers your blood pressure using less o2 therefore creating less co2?
Not that I have low blood pressure myself nor do I want to, just a theory. Chris |

Not sure about the diving impacts but a family friend in the US has unusually low blood pressure & pulse rate -- she is quite fit & healthy though, an active gardener not an athlete. She insists on only using natural full-fat products (milk, cream, etc.). They tried to treat her for the low blood pressure once but it made her ill so they stopped. She looks a little round (fat) but actually is not -- in fact she is very muscular, her chunky-looking arms are in fact large, solid muscle. Her son appears to have inherited something of this solidness, he looks small and slim but weighs noticeably much more than kids of similar size & build (he is healthy, active, energetic, bright & strong).

Yeah, that's interesting. It would be more interesting to see how a person like that would do in the water. I'm sure they're there, maybe a freediver will stumble upon this thread that has similar symptoms.

Interesting issue that you've raised. http://forums.deeperblue.net/forum12/thread61038.html
searched around a bit and found that thread. It may have some of your answers |

Actually the thing with the DR is :
A drop in heart rate an INCREASE in blood pressure Vasoconstriction (limbs) Contraction of the spleen to release red blood cells. The only advantage of having a low blood pressure (as i can see it) is to avoid pathological levels. I mean if you start out with a blood pressure on the borderline of what is healthy than you might suffer complications when the DR kicks in with the increase in blood pressure. |

Damn, Eric is such a smart guy, I'm glad he's around. Well, that answers my question, thanks Eric Fattah.![]() Perow, you posted as I was editing. That makes sense to me, for now anyway. I would still like to read further into this, either that or just post something on the previous thread so other people can view it. That's the only thing that I don't care for on these forums, the threads go away so fast.![]() Cheers, Chris Last edited by aesop; March 9th, 2006 at 11:15. |

Yeah, I saw that before. It just doesn't say how they manipualte BP, which foods do what. But, like I said above, that's something we can all google. Maybe I'll google it and post it back here, just for other people who are also curious.
Cheers, Chris |

50 times result avarages:
HT:7.9-9:00....................the most 8.5 LT:4.2-6:00....................the most 5.1 HB:49-58........................the most 51/52 once i slip down in bath pressing the soap on the floor(did not see it) and injured my noise and more blood started coming ..i wanted to stop bleeding but i did not stop and i have had to go to hospital ..anyway..in hospital nurse meausured my blood pressure 4:00 Low High was 8:00 ..she lost..and bring 5 different tools measured againg and again the best low was 4.2 the best high was 8+ she said you must drink every day very salty things as much as you drink ..i never do it never see any pale on my face, never see myself notOK! i know it may be a disadvantage but still living and not over 3 times being in hospital all my life, it is very expensive(tests in hospital/s) when i get cold i get pill/s myself my idea there is no any advantage all of these results for me or for someone else to hold breath or freedive maybe there is a big disadvantage...no idea!
