Watching Judo & 5-a-side soccer at the local sport centre recently, I was struck by how much more aggressive & louder the soccer was than the Judo! Wots a liter?! Super Big Gulp (64 floz?)...keeps you going, going, going! It costs a pound for a thimble full of coke in the UK ... you'd need a mortgage to buy a Super Big Gulp. Perhaps that's a good thing. American XL seems to be the same as XXL in the UK but we're getting big now too -- a major problem at this time.

Ok now that Ive read all the verbal abuse between europe and amarica and all that Im actualy glad we have DB where we can insult and slander each others names in public without any legal retribution cause we all know how much those people like a good and dirty law suit
. And what with all of us bein divers of one form or another we probably have so much water between the ears we wont hear each other anyways.O and on the macho thing and egypt riding to work on camels and all that you guys have nothing on us Safricans we have lions walkin freely around our streets and we eat fish cakes made from the meat of GWS which we killed with our bare hands . As an added bonus comin from Cape Town we sit around all day smokin cronic, drinkin and like look at the flat mountain bro . Whereas americans ( and I spelt that in lower case on pupose ) waddle through disney land and aquariums to see scary sharks and funny shaped mountains.OK now that Ive done my bit of slandering and insulting, back to the topic of bad posts and insults, more bad posts that is. We as freedivers and spearos around the world participate in a sport that is not very widely known and is also considered extreme, dangerous or just plain crazy by alot of people who dont know the sport. Also as a spearo where alot of people see it as a inhumane sport or that we have a unfair advantage over our target we have to converse in such a way that it sheds a positive and informative light on our sport and way of life. If not, the wrong thing said can come to the wrong ears, eyes in this case, and worsen our plight for more good publicity and or freedom to participate and share what we do with people out there. An uneducated or stupid reply can be blown out of proporsion very easily if the reader is so inclined... And besides we have to be freinds with the people here on DB because we mite want free accomodation and tours should we wish to travel to their part of the world some time ![]()

The good news discovered here in the land of opportunity is if you smoke enough cigarrettes and crank you can drink all the beer you want without gaining weight.

Okay, you right bastards, and I do mean "right." What right have you to start this hilariously offensive and pant-wetting thread without me? Everyone knows that Canadians have evolved far beyond the shackles of the Old World cultures of Europe. And we're on top of the USA on the map, and in so many other ways. So, off to the self-flagellation chambers to all of you for disobeying orders that you should have know about.
And Fondueset, do you have a license to be so f%^*ing funny? I hope so, 'cause otherwise you're gonna pay. In Canadian dollars!!!! Canada invented comedy. All the best comedians in Hollywood come from Canada and Monty Python only became funny after they all spent a weekend in a log cabin in northern Quebec with only maple syrup, Canadian Club whiskey and some smoked beaver and the peerless company of Mesrrs Ovide and Tit-Jean Rubberboot, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police groupies (pre-Disney license), and Pamela Anderson, pre-boob job (bet you didn't know she was my girlfriend in high school!). Yes, that's right, American pop-culture is a secret plot to relegate our armed and dangerous neighbour to the south to it's rightful place: a playground for Canadian nobility. Let that be a warning to Europe: you're next! I can't believe I left my computer alone for a week and you all get uppity. King Canuck

I remember the first time I drove through Canadia. The rosy cheeked children all singing and dancing, the small pop cans (much more reasonable portions) and those delightful bow-ties. I nearly soiled myself laughing when those hilarious customs fellows kept pulling white rabbits filled with heroin out of our door panels! I thought I'd never get tired of hearing them say 'a!?' And when I learned the woman I was running off with was really a syphillitic east european transvestite and former Stasi informant with a penchant for small animals (funny you should mention Pam, Pete.) - well it was that relentless canadian humor, good cheer and the hot kiss of cold candian steel that kept me from headin on up to the tundra, drinking myself into a stupor and waiting for the puffins to pick my bones clean while I cried myself to death in my own vomit.

I hereby nominate Fondueset for the This Hour Has 22 Minutes gonzo journalism award for using the unforgetable image of heroin bunnies and bow ties.
Don't worry, Chris. I won't tell anyone that you're a sleeper agent for us.

great post! i would like to take the opportunity to say that the mentors/team leaders are doing an excellent job. in a recent thread, there was a member who became embroiled in a fight with the mods. i found the exchange was quite hostile and out-of-step with the general tone of db. flame wars bring everybody down. instead of further side-tracking that thread i thought mentioning it here seemed appropriate. instead of naming this poster, the point i am trying to make is regarding the integral role of the mods to these forums. through their efforts (and the members too) db remains a respectful and welcoming place generally free from nasty flame-wars and mudslinging that are often rampant in other forums. as stephen reminded us above, this is a private forum and we all agreed to abide by the rules. lucky for us, the mods' directives are generally simple and easy to follow keep up the great work everybody. thanks for making this such a genuinely friendly community. ![]() ![]() ![]() cheers, sean vancouver, canada |

Oh goody! My fave thread back to life.
Is this then a pertinent time to mention what is probably Americas greatest contribution to world fashion: mom jeans? Those high waisted, flatbutt covering tapering tools of fashion disaster. Worn ideally, in a sad world, with white "running" (cough cough) shoes and fluffy white (the bunnies make a come back) socks. Judge, jury; if you please |

I agree with Trux on this matter - "I would not like to see this forum turning into a heavily censored police district with no possibility of arguing with each other." TRUX
Perfect - let opinions be stated, a few emotions can make for engaging conversations, dont be dragged beneath the dark cloud of an over-controlling culture........ It seems the only reminder needed (note I do not participate in any 'hunting forums') is be respectful that everyone and anyone can have an opinion, there is very rarely a right or a wrong in stone. ...oh and Dont be a fool and believe everything you read on deeperblue, even if they have the credentials behind their names ;-) |
