Everyone starts somewhere. She's just a kid. And better than quite a few people that I've seen in competition- including some at Worlds. I did not see any noticeable contractions. Bad recovery protocol for sure. If she keeps it up, someday she might discover this forum, learn some technique, and get even real good. That's 2¢ from the high plains boondocks of Wyoming.
In peace, Glen |

In my opinion, (which I am allowed), the method used is unsophisticated and looks potentially dangerous. You will note that the support she had was facing her in the window, and the guy had to climb some steps to make sure she was ok. Pardon me if "hick" offends you, it was lightly meant. hic! ![]() |

I consider myself fortunate that the local olympic pool lets me do my dynamic sessions(especially in a lawsuit happy place like california). I would be horrified if someone did something stupid here and got apnea banned from the pool- Hick or not. With that said I'm sure many of us did plenty of stupid sh*t when younger and just didn't have youtube around to broadcast it.

no harm in it I say, not bad 4 mins either. like Mr MHF says, we've all done dumb sh...t pre youtube. I still do most days..thank god no one films it.. There is far more dangerous stuff on youtube. As long as no one of this ability says "copy me" or "this is how to do it" I guess we're all right as a community

Ok, people let's not all try to surpass each other in how bad it may be, or at least leave Our favourite mermaid Sara out of it.
I found the video intresting, and liked the girl smiling and the way she interacted with the cameraman. I'm sure I can find many reasons to ban even to most base of activities or depictions. One is not responsible for someone else being willfully ignorand or stupid. I'm sure burocracies all over the world are itching and tyrelesly working to write and extent the laws, or just enforce a policy. This video has a safety warning, and I think that should be enough. Though in this time there are safetywarnings everywhere and that extensive lableing, repetition, kills effect of warnings in general. On the other side, life is taking chances, though I prefere not to take the extreme ones. To me it's much more allarming to see people living like zombies, apathic, like the walking dead with nobody home in those eyes. Perhabs we should put some effort in promoting courage and more spiritual life as opposed to the material web most people down themselves in? Love, courage and water! J<ars

The point is that we should all be promoting safe diving not some half arsed attempt of filming some girl in an aquarium on our own. If we don't, each and every one of us promote safe diving the sport is fcuked in the long run. Isn't that what deeperblue is all about? Hell the banjos are out in force today!!

I have long fought against solo ocean diving here, although out of choice I do it because of lack of options. I use the knowledge I have picked up (courses, divers, here) to improve my chances of arriving back home. I have a BIG (3"x8") RED AND WHITE Cressi badges on the front, back and sides of my suit, and my fins have a big silver X on the bottom of each, but jeez, do you think anyone cares or copies me? I just about got shot down by suggesting that our next spearo comp is a two guy team, one gun per team...... Its just too much fun and too easy to jump in the water. Saying they are Hicks or Pricks (i agree with most) will not save them. Telling them to take a course, or read about blackouts, or even jazz up their suits instead of camouflaging just may?? Safe dives, and cool heads |
