That video was the NZ national record about 6 weeks ago and the pool is 33m long. The world record today was in a 50m pool and was a 226m swim

Magnificent effort Dave, well done! With the amount of talent getting around in NZ it's about time a pool record went down there.
How did Ant go? Any other noteable results? I've said it before and i'll say it again, the NZ comps always have MASSIVE results. Cheers, Ben

It was another stunning swim by Dave yesterday. He came up very very clean at the end of the dive. He certainly has 250 in him from what we are seeing (no pressure Dave!).
Ant Williams also did a fantastic DYN attempt today. He came up literally a couple of metres short of the new WR, and was soooo close to getting a white card - half his mouth just dipped back under the waterline for a split second. Another notable swim was the third New Zealander to break 200m in DYN - Kerian Hibbs did a clean 201m, a new PB, and hugely well deserved after incredible, ongoing committment to his training. We saw several other (more humble) PBs in the pool today as well. Fran, Grant, Wal, Tracey & John et al doing a great job of judging / organising a full on programme this weekend. Last day of the comp tomorrow... cricket 20/20 semifinal, NZ vs Pakistan or sleep tonight is the question... Guy |

Hmm, I think I am going to start eating more kiwi's. It must have some miraculous effect or what!
Congrats Dave, and the other Kiwi's too! |

I am completely gobsmacked - aside from Dave's brilliant swim a massive massive effort from Ant and a new member of the 200+ club in Kerian. I am just stunned at how much talent you guys have got.
And by humble, do you actually mean normal? ![]() I know your dilemma Guy - i'm just settling in after brekky to watch the cricket myself - it'll be a great match but I think you guys will have your work cut out. Strangely enough i'll be barracking for the kiwis. Cheers, Ben

It's been a fun comp so far. Dave's 226m swim looked fantastic - the underwater footage of his swim should appear on to Utube sometime next week.
It's gearing up to be a big day tomorrow. I'll be pushing for a few more metres in the dynamic and Dave has plans to push the record out further as well...hope I get to swim first! Ant |

A big thanks to Walter and Grant for coming out, not only for the WR, but for all the pointers, advice and encoragement they've given us all. Not to mention Grant and the JIL course he's taking afterwards...
Plenty of PBs in the comp already in addition to Ant, Dave and Keiran's huge swims. Right, off for the final day! |
