The Noble Prize!
The Richmond Freedivers would like to announce their new annual award. 2007 has been an incredible year for our club. New British records for Liv and Mark, PB's for others, competitions, training holidays and a huge amount of fun. In particular, we've been inspired by the individual behind what will be known as 'The Noble Prize'. Ben scooped three Australian records in Dahab a few weeks ago. That's quite something! As well though, he works like a trojan behind the scenes for both the BFA and Deeper Blue as well as putting 100% into helping others at the club. Penny, Ben's wife - has been equally wonderful in lending her support in every sense. And we'll miss them both beyond words when they fly home to the sun later this year. Aussies in London rock! So, it is with much delight that this year's inaugural award goes to Ben Noble for his achievements in and contribution to the sport.

The award was presented last night at the belated Richmond Freediving Christmas night-out....just in case it sounds like one of those Facebook-type virtual awards!

Good lord.... you guys really know how to embarrass a bloke!
Last night was quite touching and completely out of the blue - it took me a while to figure out you weren't just taking the piss  Until I got my brilliant framed photo which will find pride of place on our mantle (when we own a mantle that is).Thank you so much, nice to know you are appreciated. Hopefully 2008 will see Richmond club and it's members go from strength to strength. And i'll be around for a bit of it anyway  Cheers, Ben
