Not a patch on the Welsh but we wont go there. Then there's the Scots, they could make a single bottle last 24 of them for a week if they thought they would save on the re charge

During a full hour too? Not sure abut the Dutch record, but this one was not only about the maximal number of divers breathing from a single regulator (hence about the speed of the regulator exchange), but rather about the minimal consumption - they tried going slow and consuming as little air as possible. They could certainly turn much faster than they did (approximately a round in a minute, or 8s per person), hence get more divers involved, but they would consume more air and the twin tank would probably not last for an hour.

I have to ask for futher details, but this is what I know from the top of my head.
They used 1 regulator on a 5m hose to the tank placed in the middle of the pool. And I'm sure it was done for an extended time. I quess for an our, being observed by juries from the National CMAS. I remember we did an similar exersize with about 6-8 people, where it was indeed pretty hard, but manageble to partially exhale, exhale a bit through to clear the regulator and take 1 breath and pass on the regulator to the next in line. We did it only for something like 10 minutes, as a fun game with an educational twist to help people understand that one has some margine in case of regulator problems. Need to email them for the exact story. Kars

There are also some more photos on that page. A short video is available on the website of the Czech Television at ČESKÁ TELEVIZE - iVysílání : Události v regionech - it is at the end of the clip (starting at around 7:30 from the beginning of the clip). |
