Re: Freediving for charity

So this is where this thread lies... I knew that someone have had to pick up on this attempt and post it here on DB (should have known It would be you Jome ).

Anyhow, hope they´re getting donations. I´m going to donate. How much, depends on the boys as I´ll give 0,20 e for every CW meter they do

Could we somehow get link to this thread from the DB's news page?

Waiting to get rid of my money with 1 €/meter on CNF with bonuses if it's a new national record But what the heck, I think it's absolutely worth of every euro. Topis 60 meters been around way too long (6 years!). Thumbs up for Jyri!!!

I agree, go Jyri! break that record! And Jussi also, just one more meter to go!

Great pictures at the 29.7 post... shame that they can´t be viewed in full res though.

Re: Freediving for charity

If I understand correctly they should be after the cwt and cnf records today. I don't think anyone else than Timo Kinnunen has held the cwt record since he started diving (86m) but Jussi seems to be in really nice shape, hitting several times over 80m in training already. I really, really hope he get's it.

As for Jyri - I think he has it in him, being an ex swimmer the swim part should not be a problem and he seems to have found his equalization finally Topi's record is, I believe, the longest standing finnish NR? In fact I don't think anyone before Jyri has been even past 50m, much less 60!

Good luck guys!

Re: Freediving for charity

NEW NATIONAL RECORD TODAY: 87 meters CWT by Jussi!!! Concratulations!!! And I think it wasn't even hard to achieve, so fresh did Jussi sound in the end of the dive

Dive4Aid

And Jyri dived 59 m CNF, just two meters to go for a new record!

So this far the guys had succeed to make new records in all of the disciplines. Not bad at all !

Re: Freediving for charity

NEW NATIONAL AND NORDIC COUNTRIES RECORD!!! 91 meters IN CWT BY JUSSI! So he improved 4 meters from the record dive he did earlier last week!

Jyri's got some equalization problems in CNF, but there's still two days left to try...

Re: Freediving for charity

Jussi is now at 94 and judging from the video looking still incredibly fresh. Will he be going for a round 100? If so I pledge to donate 1e/meter - up and down

Very nicely done the blog and all, daily updates, detailed posts, pictures, videos (with bottom footage, no less). I'm really impressed (and proud to know these guys).

Jyri is so damned close to the CNF NR - only a few trys left - it's getting exiting

Re: Freediving for charity

The guys did it, national records in all of the disciplines!!!

Dive4Aid

Congratulations Jyri, Eero and Jussi!!!

Here's video and diving profile of Jussis last, 94 m CWT:

Projektin sukellustavoitteet saavutettu (5/5 ennätystä kasassa!!!)

There's also a great story about the dive: how Jussi prepares for the dive, what he feels and thinks while diving, what are the physical effects when going deep, etc. (unfortunately the story is now only in Finnish):

Think he's going for a hundret meters soon...

And there's also Jyris "story" with video:

Feelings afterwards

This is such a great block! Following the block has felt like opening the hatch (is that the right word for it?) of the christmas calendar when I was a child; Every day there has been something interesting and exciting to watch !
