Re: [News] Carlos Coste Back At It: RETO EN EL ABISMO 2008

Unfortunately, Carlos Coste had a black-out at -21 meters, after reaching the plate at -109 meters in free immersion. He will announce if another attempt will be made the 23 of September.

Hope He can make it!

Re: [News] Carlos Coste Back At It: RETO EN EL ABISMO 2008

In a Venezuelan webpage Sportalsub the information is that He had a lot of equalization problems and his dive time was 4´50". He blacked-out at -21 m, but it was a fast recovery and he was unconcious for few seconds. Today he did it again, and complete the immersion but failed on SP by 3 seconds. So the record was not valid.
I feel sorry for him

Woa, long dive. Good to hear he's right back into it, even if this event isn't going so well for him.

4'50"? It would be interesting to see the dive profile.

Pity for the failed second attempt, but Carlos you can do it no doubt about it.
Congratulations all the same! Take care...

Re: [News] Carlos Coste Back At It: RETO EN EL ABISMO 2008

Ouch, 4'50"! That makes me remember his DCS accident, where the dive was pretty long too due to some problems underwater. Spending such time in depth is surely already quite dangerous (though we do not know in what depth he spent most of the time) and I really hope Carlos decompresses with oxygen immediately after such attempts. I would tell it would be better abandoning the dive, when there are equalizing problems, instead of forcing and risking both a deep blackout, and DCS.

With all my respect to Carlos, and to this incredible performance, I have a bad feeling that Carlos is risking little bit too much, especially when we consider he already had a very bad bents hit for exactly the same reason.

I wish him no more problems, safe dive, successful record attempt, and especially no DCS or any other accident! Carlos, please be careful - we want that you can continue competing for many more years! Do not hurry too much, and please stop pushing if you see there are troubles.

Re: [News] Carlos Coste Back At It: RETO EN EL ABISMO 2008

What a long Divetime!

Since it was due to equalisation problems I expext a very slow time to get down.
Did he tried getting down feet first? - I know equalising that way is much easyer.

Indeed 4'50" is increddeblely long!

What was his second dive time, where he failed the SP by 3 seconds?
What are his normal FI divetime's?

Love, Courage and Water,

Kars

Hi Trux,

In Sharm he decompressed with O2 after his long dive. But you are right it is a very long dive.
