Re: dizziness after the dive

He needs to check it out but it could be ear damage (amongst other things), best not to dive until he's had someone look at it. Do you know if/how he equalises the pressure in his ears?

Re: dizziness after the dive

I agree with Simos. He should have his ears checked, preferably by an ENT specialist with diving knowledge. If not available, an diving physician should be helpful to evaluate if the persistent dizziness is caused by inner ear barotrauma or decompression.

Re: dizziness after the dive

I saw plenty of scuba divers that had issues equalising when they tried Freediving - even trying to equalise too hard can cause damage...

Dizziness after dives is not normal - he needs to check it out before diving again.

Re: dizziness after the dive

I also felt dizzy after my dives. But they were more into >30mts range. And yeah, sometimes my dizziness could last for few days, but I believe it was more of a DCS symptom... but 30 ft? Strange...

Re: dizziness after the dive

DCS from 30ft dives might sound unlikely but coupled with some medical problems, it could be possible. Also there's the ear issues etc.

Any way you look at it, he shouldn't be getting dizzy especially from 30ft dives. It's ok to ask in order to learn but please don't try and diagnose medical issues like this in a forum - he should check it out with a doctor.

Re: dizziness after the dive

Earl, the record is full of guys who did not think they had any problem with their ears or equalizing until they really screwed up their inner ears and hearing, permanently. This is especially true if using valsalva to clear. The guy needs to see an ear doc with diving experience.
