UK diving for British Columbia divers?

Just a question out of curiousity -
I had a discussion with another diver recently, who spoke of how when travelling, divers experienced and trained in BC or Pacific Northwest conditions are held in pretty high regard, due to the conditions we are accustomed to.
How would a typical dive operator, in Scapa Flow for instance, look upon our experience? Or would it matter - they would adhere strictly to BSAC levels only?
I should point out that all my training has been PADI - due to availability. I see there are other threads in discussion about the virtues - or the pitfalls - of this.

As an aside, it goes to show how little information we ever get from the [print] dive media about locations around the world beyond the Caribbean/South Pacific. (pet peev of mine)
