Hola Jorge, you have a very big question with that needs a huge answer. The first thing to consider is what is available locally (anything at inland Peru?) or as close to you as possible. Your gear will have to be serviced, and it will break down occasionally, at least some of the small, stupid things like mask-straps, mouthpieces, etc. If you can afford it, buy the best gear you can buy that comes highly reccomended through sources like Rodale's magazine for divers. Their website, which has tons of gear reviews, can be found at www.scubadiving.com . Personally, I would recommend Apeks/Zeagle regulators for performance, reliability, and serviceability. Zeagle, ScubaPro, or Dive Rite BCD's. Cressi-Sub, Mares, and Scubapro make excellent high-end fins. Scubapro, Mares, and Oneill make great wetsuits. Most masks are made by 3 or 4 manufacturers; Cressi, Mares, OMER, Sherwood all sell similar masks that are good quality. I wont go into drysuits here. Really, it would be good if you could try out different stuff once you have a list of gear that you are interested in. Que pasa bien, Erik

When you start looking for your equipment, go to a dive shop where you can try it on for fit. You don't have to buy there, but get an idea of how it feels on. Nothing is worse than buying something via the web, and when you hit the water with your new gear, it don't fit.
Shop around like Erik recommended. Diving equipment in a serious investment that you will depend on. Shop wise and enjoy diving. WELCOME to the sport!
