Has anybody heard of (or experienced) Diving in Albania ?? (or freediving/spearfishing )
It' s a very cheap country to stay in,it' s in the middle of Europe, with mountains close to the adriatic sea ,so i guess it could be a good place to explore. |

Best places for diving are in and around Vlora bay. This bay offers a very good wreck diving at the 2nd World War Italian hospital ship (Po). The wreck starts at 18 meters whereas the bottom is at 33 meters. The wreck is 150 meters long and one can spend easily 2-3 dives at the wreck. The place is reliable since it is sheltered most if the times from the rough seas.
The Sazani Island and The Karaburuni peninsula at the outer (west) side are excellent dives but access is conditioned by the conditions of the sea. Getting in and out of the Albanian ports for the moment needs coordination and planning since the police can ruin the whole day asking for permissions. If you need other information I would be glad to make it avaialble. Cheers, arian (BluSub - Diving Club, Albania) |
