Emirates Airlines, listed as a Deeperblue.net sponsor, has taken scuba equipment off its list of sports equipment that it carries free of charge. As a diver up until 30th June 2008 you would receive an additional 10kg of luggage allowance free of charge. From the beginning of July you will have to pay over US$50 a kilo each way on a long haul trip.
However, Emirates still allow you to take golf clubs free of charge. Maybe we should start packing our dive kit in golf bags? I hope that Emirates do not decide to start sponsoring a golf forum at the expense of DB!! |
