go for a 110cm,just had a new carbon camo to replace a an alloy one wich is now sitting on the ocean floor and i will retreive it one day.the 110 is so easy to track and very accurate plus it has an open muzzle, also fitted open muzzle on my 90 sparid superb upgrade, so with the 90 and the 110 everything is covererd also with the open muzzle you can put on or take off rubbers with ease as there are slots to fit the wishbone through without untying them.

Funny you say that, I was thinking maybe I should go for an even longer barrel (110/120cm) . Although I would then need to get a new spear - my current spear will fit 90 & 100cm barrel, my current 20mm rubber would fit upto a 120cm barrel, with a high power stretch, gulp!
There isn't much call for such long barrels in the UK, as far as I am aware. The visibility usually isn't that great, nor the fish that huge (although Spearo Dave mentioned using a 120 for a particular spot -- and I've seen 2 huge fish this year). Might be handy for trip abroads though. Where abouts in the world do you fish? I'm planning to get an Omer XXV 90, which is probably about the size of an RA80, & should be a good everyday gun here. If I ever get round to spearing in the Med. I'd be very tempted to get an Omer XXV100 Gold to go with the 90, although a carbon RA 90/100/110 might also fit the bill. So maybe I should open the request up to 90/100/110 (/120?) carbon RA barrels? [You left a rail gun on the sea bed? Owch. Might be worth going back soon, with grapnel hook if necessary, the sea can be very powerful. I've seen lobster pots with 6" concrete bases flung ashore on top of rocks well above the sandy beach. Cars too.] Last edited by Mr. X; October 9th, 2008 at 19:07. |

you should have bought my 106...
but I think Mr.X is well aware that a 110 will rarely make do in UK waters, at least shore diving. Just in case you might be interested, in the goods for sale of italian forum "Bluworld" there is fat chance for a very good looking C4 Monoscocca 100. I'ts being sold for 180 euro + shipping (a brand new one would cost 360 euro). It's a very good deal and the Monoscocca is a great gun . I just hope you can open the link (not sure if it works only for registered mmbers of Bluworld). In anybody is interested I might try to help with contacts and translation (I don't know the guy who's selling). (and there's also a Stealth 97 + mamba kit for 150 euro in the same thread) bluworld :: Leggi argomento - Vendo C4 100/STEALTH 97 mambizzato

Thanks for tip off, love the look of of the C4s but if I really needed a 100cm gun, I'd get an Omer XXV
100cm in a heartbeat, & for a fraction of the C4 price. I already have the RA and was thinking how to get the most out of it, if I get the XXV90, as seems likely. If an affordable 80/90/100/110/120 carbon barrel doesn't show, then I'll probably just shorten the rubbers to step up the power. |
