Hello all Texas spearos! Looking at the tide & time tables for Port Aransas 2008 there should be good tides the following days:

November 25-30 with tide beginning to peak 10 AM 11/25 through night fall. As the days progress the peak moves 1 hour later each day.

    December 8-13 with similar conditions.

With the high tides coming in to coincide with good daylight all you need to worry about is weather! Good luck, hunt well and dive safe. Chef Al

Hi! just a quik shout out. I was busy, now I'm bored. I serviced all my Pneumatics, I flushed the barrels with fork oil, then added oil to the pressure chamber. I'm watching the weather like a sailor, I'm going to Pm some of the guys at the coast, perhaps we could get very current forcasts. Hey Lucky, Nov. 17th sounds like fun, maybe I could attend if the gas prices stay low. Cheers Kerry

on November 17th, Lane Four Swim Shop will be hosting a night for the freedivers of Texas. We will be showing off some of our new new training products from finis. An expert from PowerLung will be attending this night to give a training seminar on dry and wet static. I'll keep posting with more info and exactly what time this event will begin.
i just wanted to add that if any of the deepspearados could make this event i would be stoked. I'll hook you guys up on the discounts and give aways.

Just got in a really cool Euro rail gun from Kerry via South Africa! Nice piece and there may be more available. PM Slingshaft if interested.

Trip was a disappointment. Learned lesson on teaming up w/ non-spearos--they don't have the sense of urgency or focus on time, tide & wind. I did get to meet Kerry & Kevin (big +) and I owe them another trip exclusively for spearing & hunting. SIGH patience ad infinitum

What are you trying to take with it? If it's strictly small fish from rock piles and piers, it will be a much different gun than if you want something that will also allow you to take pelagics and larger fish.

I'd stay away from wooden guns right off and go for an aluminum one, like a JBL. Lots of sizes, parts readily available, and they won't cost a fortune.

Pick up the new TPWD (Texas Parks & Wildlife Dept.) hunting/fishing regs. Spearing ANY gamefish is prohibited. You'd be surprised what TX defines as gamefish. However, if you're in Fed waters (9 miles out) the rules are different. So cobia can be taken. Tx does not have the beach, jetty & pier restrictions Fl has. Also we do not have the marine preserves Fl has. Also we do not have the fantastic viz Fl has. Anyway my cell is 210-416-9975 for interested parties. If you try to sell me something I'll give your name and some pins to my good friend Marie Levou.
