Re: Guernsey 2008

Happy New Year to all.

Nice vid and good site Marcel ( no wonder they're called wahoo!) - sounds like fun.

Back in the land of the living after going down with flu on New Year's Eve. Just managed to survive our dinner party. Pics of fishy starters attached.

That looks great Col bet it tasted as good as it looks to.
Only one thing I could only see 3 bottles of wine, what did everybody else drink…

Re: Guernsey 2008

Hi Podge - yeah not bad, followed by fillet of beef and of course, Mandy's ice cream - a new recipe using sloes from sloe gin, as you suggested, topped with a bit of the sloe gin. A great idea, which went down very well.

p.s. eventual bottle count was 14, but there were 8 of us...

Look forward to seeing you and the rest of the gang in 2008.

Nice one Col and the only reason I won’t be there in August is if I’m dead.

Re: Guernsey 2008

In need of some fish for dinner today, had to raid the freezer.

Bass roasted with rosemary, garlic and lemon.

Re: Guernsey 2008

Col that bass has still got fins on? I hope you are saving some of that sloe ice cream for me in the summer?

Re: Guernsey 2008

Mart you weren't "sloe" in claiming that! For sure, I think it's going to become another item on the Holiday Guernsey menu, along with smoked fish, lobster a la Foxy, napalm marshmallows, and of course, Rocquette cider!

I did think I should have cut the fins off, but couldn't remember why ( bones?)

Of course you CAN include the FINS Col - it's known as the FINNISH style of eating -but it takes much longer to FIN-ISH the meal!

Re: Guernsey 2008

I am thinking of going fishing some time, perhaps the weekend at my secret spot I call The Snatch!

I'll upload some pictures if I manage to catch anything and I may even take some of you guys there some time if I'm feeling generous, he he he

Has anyone else heard of this spot and know what I might catch here? I haven't heard anyone else mentioning it.

Shaun

Good luck!!!! Metcheck.com - Global Weather Forecasts - 7 Day Weather Forecast for Guernsey - [Updated on 07 January 2008 at 13:00] - Weather Feeds - Live Data - Long Range Weather Forecasts

Never heard of it but I bet at least one of us has dived there in the past. Can't think of many places that haven't been tried over the years.

Is it a triangular gulley, with curly weed at the top?

(sorry)
