Here you go last year 4th August how could I forget
![]() At £30k a pop a bit expensive though and high maintenance because its all hydraulic pumps run off a separate engine. I used to have a 6m rib was OK but prefer what I have now it has a boarding ladder at the stern with a gate so very easy to get on and off. I have a small inflatable tender with a 2.5hp which I have used to go out to the prosperity (on a calm Day) |

There's some ducks on Jersey now - 1 in operation so far and another on the way - castle tours i think... pretty cool, but maybe not so good for Portinfer!
if you know a good alu welder then i can draw up a kit for an ally boat which you could get cnc cut. here's one i drew earlier - it could do with at least 1 more bench seat and a transom platform, but is quite functional and carries reserve buoyancy, so can take a swamping...: The Marine Revolution boats are good too. I have been spearfishing from a DUKW as the guy who used to own Portland Oceaneering had one.I'm pretty sure there was a picture on the Dorset forum which i will try and find.
A real bugger to get back in afterwards and truth be known a bit slow.

you could make a small plywood/glass boat from the same type of kit - cheaper, easier & lighter. |

Ed try a Google search for "stitch & glue boat plans" you might find some very low weight designs specified but from my experience these estimates are a little optimistic!!
However as Jonny suggest this might be the way falward for you! (you wont beat a portaboat for what you want)

guys, had a bit of a brainwave just there......
has anyone thought about using a jet ski for spearing transport? then i remembered this thread, and thought you might be interested. so, the criteria for a good spearing boat. 1: its light (relatively) one man can put it on the trailer easily. 2: you can take friends (the other half) along, just get a 2 seater. 3: its relatively safe, and reliable. 4: doesn't require physical exertion. just thought i'd pass that on. now, its back to the library for me.

If anyone is really looking for a boat, I have a 24' Coronet Weekender that I would part with if the right offer came along. It needs some attention to make it... more pleasing to the eye, but it is a very solid boat with a 205hp V6 Volvo Penta in it. I have dived off it many times all around Guernsey, Herm, Sark, Jersey and France (Carteret).
PM me if interested. George. |
