Finished another big timber job

Just finished another gun thats going to get some use over in WA. The stock is a little larger than normal because Geoff thinks he's gonna need twin 20's on his 8mm spear ;D ;D ;D (won't hold it against ya mate!) I tried my new ebony handle on this gun which I think turned out alright methinks

Re: Finished another big timber job

Nice one DM, theres just something special about a home made timber gun. Planning on starting my first one in the near future, just have to add a few more tools and a proper work bench with a vice to my garage wall... to find the space though.

Re: Finished another big timber job

I used the Australian Kesby trigger mech, very similar to riffe except the trigger is shorter which is good for smaller sized guns.

It is very beautiful, and a very interesting concept. I love details like that hole in the butt. Congratulations. What kind of woods did you use?

Re: Finished another big timber job

I used silky oak & silver ash for the stock & the handle is made from striped ebony.

Unfortunately I will never get to shoot a fish with her, its for a customer on the other side of my country!

Re: Finished another big timber job

You must send Mr. Kesby an email regarding the purchase of a trigger, they arn't listen on his website.

They are $100 AU with a line release.

Re: Finished another big timber job

Yes it can be fatal using a gun you have just made. I mean after using it a few times, it only makes it harder to sell because you end up liking it too much. Very nice gun I would say lookin at the pics. I just make guides on carbon barrels.
