A while back we had some threads on camo jobs for spearguns with some very cool suggestions.
As usual i took nobody's advice :P and stumbled upon what seems to be a very cool way to easily cammo your spearguns. Omer is selling waterproof stickers which easily applies to a speargun's barrel, seems rugged and so far is handling all the knocks i can throw at it. I first did my 1m Rabi in brown and my 1.2 Rabi in ocean mimetic. The mimetic looks awesome and completly breaks the profile of my gun. I have since looked for camo patterns on the Internet and found some really cool ones so now I am having a friend make up some custom made waterproof stickers for free Im posting some pics, this seems a better solution than spray painting, its quicker, less mess, and doesnt chip off.

Hi Covert
Just seen this-looks really good. I couldn't find the stickers on the internet - could you tell me or post a link pls? I found some camo tape at my local fishing shop which seems to have stayed on OK, but it's for land camouflage really, and I'm not sure how well it works.

omer doesnt have it on their site although they do still stock it. Mail them directly they are very helpful and will either point you to a reseller that will have it in your area or you can buy directly from them.
So far they hold really well

If camo for a speargun makes you feel good, have at it. But its even more useless than camo on a wetsuit. Both are just intended to catch divers.

I posted this in response to a couple of old threads I've read and participated in where people were spray painting their guns. Which is allot of fun, but time consuming, messy and hard work. This post is there to be helpful to those individuals that would like to work on breaking the profile of their guns with a quick, non-messy solution that I found to be very rugged and durable.
Bill everybody has their own opinions and styles. Your opinion has been noted :P

I worry that a cammo gun will be hard to find if you loose hold while fighting abig fish and that a cammo diver will be hard to find when diving at sea and gets into trouble or that another diver will not see you and you end up wearing a spear,i find that fish are inquisitive by nature and are actually attracted to unusual colours and shapes , it is sudden movement that frightens fish ,move slowly and calmly and the fish will not be frightened even if you are wearing a fluoro pink wetsuit, bye ANDY

camo will never hide you , not from your buddies nor your fish, and beleive me youll never loose a gun due to it being camo. Cammo serves only two purposes,
1. To break up your profile as a huge predator 2. It looks really cool

For what it's worth, here's a link to the Jersey ( sister island) Sperfishing Club's article on the subject.
Jersey Spearfishing Club Whatever your views, why shouldn't you try to maximise your chances? I can't see any downside - and as you say, it's fun! By the way I e-mailed Omer but still have heard nothing.

hello there im new to this computer thing but ive been spearfishing for some time ive been reading what you have to say about cammo. My dive partner uses a deepthought reversable wetsuit its green/blue when we dive the reef i watch him drop down and lay on the bottom the cammo works very well aslong as nothing sees him while he makes his decent.however when we dive blue water and he uses the blue camo its obious that the fish spot him as easily as they spot me in my black excel wetsuit. I just stumbled upon this websight a day ago and im suprised at how many irish spearfishermen there are.
Covert i was wondering if you have any experience with the use of flashers in bluewater ive been looking at the Rob Allen flasher but ive never talked to anyone who has used one. |

it looks like your friends cammo works well in the water too. I get over to the UK about once a year usualy in December but im planning to visit when it gets a little warmer. I spend most of my time in north east of England do you know how the spearfishing is up there?
