Does any one know an online site that sells these types of floats. I want one for use as my floater. With or without all the equipement like flag stands and stringer. I plan on putting my on flag and stringer on. The cheapest plain one Ive seen is 80$ and thats a little to much for me. Thanks Adam

Thats pretty cheap from what I have seen. I have not seen them for less than $100-120 rigged....

Just get it fully rigged from Hanapaa or Maui Sporting Goods.
The cheapest place I found to get it unrigged is McCully Bicycle & Sporting Goods.

If what you're looking is a torpedo shaped hard float, I saw one of those inflatables that someone has sprayed poly-eurithane inside (or simmilar name - some foam that gets hard after you spray it, can be found in most DIY shops I think), acts like a hard case float. I dunno if it's a big money saver though, but if you have one you don't need already, might worth the try.
Just yesterday I bought an OMER inflatable torpedo shaped float, it was in half price (half our price). Still cost 55$. I found the link, the model is named "america". http://www.omersub.com/omer/catalog/buoys/p2.htm http://www.omersub.com/omer/data/buoys/america.htm I didn't get it wet yet though. maybe next week. |

Yep that would be expanding foam used for insulating pipes among other things. Works great to fill float with only problem is its pemanent and float tends to keep getting into the way at home after a while.

Murda,
Like Fuzz said, McCully Bicycle got um for about $60. If you tight on funds, let me know, the guys there give me a break on gear. I can also help you rig up the float if you want, I think I have some tuna clips laying around and some polypropelene rope. Plexiglass flagbase from Hanapaa is about $12 last time I checked, the metal one may be cheaper. Drop me an email if you need some help. Aloha. uluapoundr@aol.com |
