Isn't it just a spike to brain the fish? The other piece is the sheath for your belt. For most smaller fish, I use my knife, kui (stringer needle), or spearshaft tip, insert in gill, and aim towards the brain, just behind eyes. When you git the brain, the fish will give it's last twitch or it's jaw will open up. It's the quickest and most humane. For bigger fish, I use my knife and stab from top, between eyes. If you carry a sharp tip knife, I don't think you need this extra tool.

Hiya
uluapoundr is correct, as usual!!! I also carry a similar spike attached to my weightbelt. You simply tie the handle to your belt with a short piece of mono/rope. That way you can drop it after "braining" you fish. No hassling with the sheath. You can then boat/stringer your fish, then take your time putting the fish spike back into it's sheath. A good knife will do the same job, but my reasoning is that it is very easy to lose a knife, so rather lose a cheap ikijimi spike!!!!!! A screwdriver with a sharpened point also works great and is cheap too!! Regards miles |
