my new floats

hi all
here they are some pics of my new home maden floats. what do you think? i have tested a prototype at 40 meters and the material seems to resist well. one thig i know sure: they are very cheap

boqueirao, tell us what they do and how they are made. Start with the PVC tube, what is that, a keel or ballast?

Hey - looks really similar to mine - I made mine with wall cavity insulation.

But mine is more torpedo shaped (smooth all round) - hey, I only made one so I guess you are making a few so cut down on the shaping.

I bound mine with tape as I found all the glues and paint I wanted to use eroded the foam.

What glue do you use ?

Is the foam a cavity wall insulation foam ?

I used some plastic electrical tubing for the attachment point. Rope runs through it and doesnt wear the foam.

the PVC tube is a "box" for about 40M of Polyester 4mm rope. when the float dive, the rope comes out and you can work the fish with this rope. the floats work with 10 or 20m bungees between each one and they have a piece of stainless steal inside, too

the foam is an isolation material for wall and roofs. the trade mark i think is "Roofmate", or something... you can buy it in any bricolage store. the glue i use is the special glue for Expanded Poliestyren, from Bostik. but have other marks as good as this. i use this floats only for the "big ones" but i have made another diferent, too.

i think is the same product.
you can cut the Roofmate panel with a x-act or a smal blade and you can do the finish work with sand paper. is very easy.
