New Rabitech Open Muzzle!!!

Hiya

Just came back from Rabitech. He had one prototype of his new open muzzles and after lots of begging and pleadind, he finally succumbed and fitted it to my 130cm Carbon Apex. Whilst i was there i threw on some new 16mm bands and asked him to replace my stickers as well as fit a stainless steel line release!! So my gun looks like new now!!!

One of the problems i've had with the old rabitech muzzle, is that you'd struggle a bit to get a 8mm spear plus crimp through the muzzle when reloading. You soon learn how, and pretty soon you forget about it. I've always wanted a open muzzle, but never got round to buying me a after-market one. Luckily, Rabitech will be getting his first shipment in the next week, so i can convert my other rabitech's.

Enough words, here's some pic's!!

pic1 - 130cm Rabitech Apex Carbon with open muzzle and 115cm Rabitech Carbon Apex with Omer Pelagic reel
pic2 - close up of the two muzzles
pic3 - side view of new open muzzle, with spear and mono
pic4 - top view of new open muzzle, with spear and mono
pic5 - bottom view, showing mono, spear and hole for reel line, which is big enough for the 3mm reel line i use.

Question Re: New Rabitech Open Muzzle!!!

Hey Miles, any chance of an update: how do you like the open muzzle vs. the closed muzzle 8 months on?
(Harder or easier to load? Does that bottom rubber clamp impede the spearline?)

Re: New Rabitech Open Muzzle!!!

Hiya

Jeez, has it been that long already!!!

In all honesty, i haven't been spearing very much, but have used it quite a bit.

In the water, it works very well. Gives you a clear line of sight, making aiming easier. Changing of bands is also a very simple and easy exercise.

Downsides: it takes a bit longer to reload and when left on the deck of the boat, the mono tends to jump off the muzzle, cuasing the spear to fall off the rail.

Overall impression:
PERFECT for my 130cm Rabi, which is my blue water gun, but for inshore use, where reloading speed is more crucial for me, i prefer a closed muzzle. Often i will reload and shoot with-out properly rigging the shooting line. This happens when you've shot a yellowtail and want to shoot another from the school, before they dis-appear. With the open muzzle, i can't do that, as the yellowtail now swimming on the shooting line, will simply pull the mono causing the spear to fall off the rail.

If you're not making quick successive shots, the new open muzzle is brilliant!

Regards
miles

Re: New Rabitech Open Muzzle!!!

Also being a rabi user I can safely say that personally I think they are some of the best guns on the market here in SA and most if not all of us own atleast 1 or 2 that will always be included no matter where you go. It could possibly be the way the feel in the water and the power the gun packs or the good service we get from our supplier, Loius is a top guy who will go out of his way to help a customer also hes regular visitors dont mind the discounts and freebies they get
