Diveskin or Picasso Apnos???

With winter coming, I know my 3/2 surfing wetsuit isn't going to cut it, as I've ended up freezing on the 60 degree days I've dived so far. So I've narrowed my search down to these two suits.

Both are about the same price, and both have good reviews. I can get the Diveskin custom built in camo, but the Apnos with be plain black and a Picasso's stock sizing.
So if anyone has any opinions on quality, that would be great. I like to keep my things for a long, long time.
Also, I've got size 46 shoulders/chest, but a 31-32 waist (depending on how in shape I'm in); how does Picasso sizing seem to fit this build if anyone knows?

Thanks!

Re: Diveskin or Picasso Apnos???

This is a tough one! I have both the custom Diveskin and the stock sized Picasso and really like each of them, but I would say I am really impressed with the way the picasso fits.

Here is the catch, ...........each person's body type and shape is not the same. Some people have a build that those standard sizes are perfect for. I am a bit lean with an athletic body (although with age this is beginning to change ), so the standard picasso fits me like a glove. I have a 42" chest and a 32" waist.

If a person has an athletic build, he or she probably can't go wrong with a Picasso, wheras a person with a different build (a bit heavy, a bit too tall and thin, an avid bodybuilder, huge beer belly ) would probably due best with the custom made Diveskin. You sound like you may have rather broad shoulders and/or a barrel chest coupled with a narrow waist so maybe the Diveskin is your safest choice.

I hope this was of some help and good luck,

Jim

[Oh, I almost forgot. I have a brand new 3mm Diveskin that is just a bit too large for me to wear and would probably fit you very well if you're interested.]

Thanks for the help Jim. I just have broad shoulders and a fairly narrow waist, but other than that am pretty proportionate for a 6'1" guy. Out of curiosity, how tall and what size Piscasso are you in, if you don't mind me asking? How is the quality between the two? Thanks again.

Re: Diveskin or Picasso Apnos???

I am 5'10" (and a half, can't forget the half you know ) and 175lbs. I grew up swimming competitively so I have always had somewhat of a swimmer's build, but you appear to have an ULTRA swimmer's build with shoulders so broad that they yeild a 46" chest.

My Picasso is a size 54 and fits me perfectly. I am really starting to think you should lean toward a custom suit, but before you decide on the Diveskin check out the Elios suits. The Elios cost is within just a few dollars of the Diveskin for a nice 3mm custom suit, and although the quality is comparable, the cut on the Elios IMHO is better.
