Spetton vs Picasso

hello all:

I've lost my imersion speargun yesterday and I'm shopping for a new one now. I'm looking at Spetton Carbon Team & Picasso Century both guns are 90cm. Any advise on which to buy? which one is more durable? which one has a better saftey release mechanism? I was really not impressed with my imersion concept saftey; it was too difficult to rotate while in water. I appreciate your replies.

Re: Spetton vs Picasso

Hello Marwan:

I've owned a 90cm cressi comanche and used it for over a year then the trigger mechanism went bad. I was told that the problem with Cressi guns is that you cannot replace its trigger. Omer is more expensive than the two I'm looking at. What's wrong with picasso and spetton? do you recommend better ones? My budget now is around 150 - 200 USD + shipping (european sites charge an arm and a leg for shipping average 70$)

Cheers

Hiya

Assuming you're in the USA, here's a couple of local options for you:

Sumora: http://www.sumora.com/hunter.php
The Rabitech hunter uses the Stealth grip and has a extruded alluminuim barrel.

Florida Freedivers: https://www.flfreedivers.com/
Drop Mike Damms a email and ask him what he has to offer in that price range. I know that RA does offer a entry level gun, which isn't shown on his website.

Both are EXCELLENT guns and you'll find PLENTY of reviews on them on the forums!!

Regards
miles

Re: Spetton vs Picasso

i would definitely recommend he rabitech, i got an apex carbon 120 direct from south africa, the gun itself was more towards the 200$ range, then you have shipping. its an awesome gun. i never tried picasso or spetton or rob allen, one of my frniends tried the picasso and it gace him a lot of problems, i think the xperience you had with the cressi is quite rare, i used mine for years and it is really good..one of my friends has been using the apache for over 10 years now... I would say try the omer (XXV gold, carbonium 2000, excalibur 3000 are all great guns), or cressi or beuchat (carbon elite is a really good gun)
anyway best of luck

The entry model RA is the "Scorpia" but unfortunately Mike decided not to import and stock it after the first demo units arrived.

I have two brand new 90cm guns laying around I can sell you, but they are high end guns. I will still offer you really sweet deals on them though.

Rabitech Stealth Carbon 90cm = $310
Omer Cobra 90cm = $490

Hiya

If you had a slightly higher budget, you'd have a far greater variety of guns to choose from. Not saying that the cheaper guns won't work, ANY gun will take fish, BUT, rather spend a bit more now, that later having to spend some more money when you want to upgrade.

A slightly more expensive option is a Aimrite gun. http://www.aimritehawaii.com/aluminum.php
LIFETIME warranty and you'll get possibly THE best customer service from a speargun manufacturer!! Shipping also shouldn't be such a killer!!

Re: Spetton vs Picasso

Thank you all for your input. I took Marwan's advice and searched for other euroguns. I finally got an Omer ocean mimetic 90cm gun from subprof.com. I love this site, the gun was 50% less than all online stores in the US. The only things that sucked was paying 90$ for shipping to Qatar. I look forward to trying my new gun soon. I'll post my review nex week. Thanks again to all.
