Great but too painfull fins

HI,

I ordered some CRESSI GARA 3000HF fins a few days ago.

Today I took them from the shop and paid them.

My size is 43 and the fins are 44/45, I tried the fins and they are the right size for me with neoprene socks.

But the fins really hurt my feet, my feet are not so narrow, my bole is high and I have broad feet.

The fins are great but the definitely don`t fit my feet, the shape is absolutely not for me.

Tomorrow I will bring them back to the shop.

I am looking for some other fins that wil fit for my feet, anyone can suggest me fins for broad feet with high bole.

What about the OMER BAT 25 Ocean Mimetic, Apnoe Flosse

What about the shape of these fins, are they good for broad feet?

Any other fins that I you can recommend me?

Greetings

For broad feet you shoudl go with either OMER or Sporasub foot pockets.
I have broad feet too and the OMER foot pockets suit me very well.
Can't tell anything on the BAT blades as I never tried them.

Re: Great but too painfull fins

My wife has the Gara LD3000 set, and they appear to be more narrow, than the Omer Foot Pockets in the same size.
I have tried both, and although I dont have discomfort with her pair barefoot, or with 1.5 mil booties, I do notice a difference when I switch to the Omer set with 3mil booties, the Omers are more forgiving in the foot width department. although now my problem is on extended fishing I get heel rub from the tops of the achilleys. I am using Fixy poms tomorrow to see if it stops the movement. seems one solution, yields another problem altogether.

I have an idea. go to a rock climbing store, and try on your appropriate size rock shoe. The level of acceptable discomfort that rockclimbers have will shock you into the immediate discovery that rubber booties pulled over neoprene socks is an unparralelled luxury!!!!

hope that helps.

Re: Great but too painfull fins

Thank you for the help,

I suppose I will order the Omersub BAT fins, I realized that I can order them in three different grades of stiffness.

Which one you recommend me 25, 30 or 40, 40 ist the stiffest one, 25 the softest one.

Anyone who has experience with that fin?

Greetings

Re: Great but too painfull fins

Go with the 25's- those fins are stiffer than you would think.

The OMER pockets are bigger all the way around and should fit better than the Cressi's.

You could also look into the new WaterWay NEMO fins- the pockets are softer than the OMER's and the blades come in 3 or 4 different stiffness levels, plus they are cheaper.

You could also just get a pair of OMER/NEMO/Spetton/Picasso/Sporasub footpockets and put in a wide variety of different blades to match your diving- anything from plats to carbon fiber can fit into the same footpocket.

I currently have a bat25, they are great for surface swinming but I was very disapointed on dives below 15 meters. About the foot pockets, I think picasso is the wider foot pocket out there.

What disappointed you?

Why below 15 meters?

Whas it the speed-performance?

Greetings

Re: Great but too painfull fins

OMER's are bigger than Picasso footpockets- I've owned both and can fit a 6mm sock in my OMER's and only a 3mm sock in the Picasso pocket of the same size.

I spent some time in a pair of NEMO pockets today and found them to be about the most comfortable footpockets I've ever tried. They are also easier to get in and out on than my sporasub pockets.

Re: Great but too painfull fins

Jon

I was just in the pool Friday, I think the picasso pockets are wider than the omers, that is definitly the impression I have, I normally use a 7 mm socks with a omer 46-48, however with the picasso pockets I could go with the 44-46 with the 7 mm sockts. Perhaps is the shape of my foot, but that was the impression of three of us test driving fins all of us tought the picasso was wider.

About the bat25, I was disapointed on deep dives, I just could not get down to 20 meters as easy, my impression was that the fins kind level their power, so pushing harder will not make you go any faster. I had a similar impression with the bat30, this one had also the issue of being stiff on surface swiming.

About the cressi's fins, my impression is the that the bottom of the foot pocket is too soft, I've notice that it has hurting my foot because of the soft pocket causing it to bend in the middle of the foot. May be that is your issue, the omer pockets are nice and hard on the bottom of the foot pockets. But the picasso has far the hardest sole that I've ever try.

We were in the pool with a stack of fins.

cressi 2000, cressi 3000 , special fin hybrid medium (omer), special fin hybrid hard (omer), special fin blue water special medium (picasso), special fin blue water special medium (omer), black team.

Re: Great but too painfull fins

Coral sniper,

I've actually have a couple of those, they have a very comfortable since I have them in Brazil I never try them with 3mm socks, always use them with lycra socks.
Again maybe there are differences in the year those things were made, the Picasso pockets I've try were at least 5 years old the omer were brand new. Could be why Jon and me have different impressions about the foot pocket size.
