Omer Shaft Guide Rail

I was thinking of applying the Omer universal Shaft guide to my Cressi Comanche 75, and was wondering if it would even make a difference. Anyway has anyone used this shaft guide before and how was it to install.

Thanks,
spriggan

Re: Omer Shaft Guide Rail

i used it before and it work great. it's held on by double sided tape, just peel off and glue on the gun, make sure you wipe the barrel with a 50/50 water/alcohol mix. as far as making a difference, it depends on who you ask but i think it helps and it definitely makes the shaft easier to load.

In this link a video clip on how to install (long and boring indeed).

I put the rail on a 110 Omer and now it shoots better (or maybe it's just me feeling more self-assured). But for a short 75 I don't think it's a good idea, either because the Comanche is pretty accurate and well balanced as it is. Just my 2 cents.
Cheers

For me it's not necessary, Fernando, as on any gun with bands working parallel to the barrel like the apache, the comanche, the excalibur 2000, et cetera. I think a rail does help on guns with bands working obliquely to the barrel (circular bands) or with multiple bands.
In general, I made the idea that a rail does not assure that the gun will be more accurate. It just gives a straight trajectory in exit, but not after exit: a rail gun will not be accurate if it has bad recoil, band whip, rocky trigger, curled flopper, bent barrel etc etc etc. I'm not a believer of the "railgun religion". But I'm not a graduate in physics. This is just my opinion after discussing and reading a lot on this subject (and after shooting a lot when I had more time for our wonderful sport).

Re: Omer Shaft Guide Rail

The biggest advantage I've found in having a rail on a gun, regardless of the type of muzzle or how the bands sit, is that it gives me a smoother guide to put the shaft into the gun, and makes loading faster and easier. If you start seeing dings and scratches on the top of your rail-less barrel, then a plastic rail might make the gun shoot a bit smoother and quieter.
Ron.

Re: Omer Shaft Guide Rail

After trying the OMER rail once, i have installed the rail to all my carbon guns. The rail really improfes accuracy.

If you dont have a railgun, then just make one.
