DIY diver float

Here's a dive float I made over the weekend, securely holds a spare shaft, and a bug snare...made a color copy of a dive flag and laminated it...The 3-L bottle filled with foam is detachable...heres the best part $12

Looks good Tone, is that the standard regulation diver flag?

hiya fox glad you like...in miami, the std size flag sits on the boat, that is law and regs just switched to something like 22"x11", and supersedes flag in the water, which lets the capt and boaters know where the diver is.

Nice work...I'm a poor student so I love the DIY stuff on this site. How buoyant are those bottles? Buoyant enough to keep your dinner from swimming away with your gun and rigging? If so I think I may pirate your idea. Right now I use a small/medium sized boat fender for a float but it's a bit cumbersome.

Nice job, I saw one of them water boards the other day and got a picture closely relating that, how does it perform in the water, have you had time to test it in the kelp?

Dinner should be Ike Jime prior to stringing, on the float, I've shot a few fish with the set up and its held up good, of course stoning them helped

No kelp in Miami mate, have tested it it though and it performs excellen'tay- nooooo drag, my son has an Omer Atoll which is great (but has a bit a drag compared to this one), this I guess would be a close trimmed down version- carries all the essentials, and warns boaters of my ninja'bouts

Where did you pick up the "water board"? My DIY board float is starting to soak up some water so I think it is time to make a new one. I like your setup, but it looks like it might flip over easily since it is so narrow. Are those hanging weights off the bottom enough to prevent this? Thanks

thx, board is from Sports Authority its stable enough for me to say I like the way it has worked out for me thus far, it has flipped a few times, when jerked hard, a few more ounces would likely fix it (I have clipped my shaft from the bottom and it stabalizes it perfectly- the problem with that is if theirs alot of sargassum in the water it tends to snag up).

I like the streamlined profile= zero drag, guess its a trade-off, the Kiddie kick boards at SP are wider so that could be a viable alternative- the laminated flag is what did the trick - I think

V. neat & compact. What is it made out of -- it looks like an unusually thick, buoyant skateboard deck?

its actually some "gimmick" float for kids to use in a pool...been using it for quite some time and am very pleased with it (as well as a few guys I've taken out that have used it too), changed the 2L float to a big (bullet shaped) marker float, interesting this thread got taken off snooze since I am recently prototyping a similiar float with some added details will post soon.
