I need a new float. My prerequisites are: can attach a flag, tows easily, highly durable.
Searching DB & spearboard I’ve narrowed it down to the Aimrite & Neptonics floats (picture attached). I've given up on an Omer Atoll (flips, deflate, flag falls over), & my DIY board floats (waterlogged after 5 months, though I did like the attachment options for it). I hate needing to replace gear, so I need something that will last. I shore dive in Florida, usually 500-800 yards offshore in <60ft / 20m of water. Fish are usually reef varieties with the ocasional smaller king fish or AJ. If anyone has used the Aimrite or Neptonics floats, could you comment on your experience with them, if the flag stays put, and how they pull through the water. Also if you have pics of either in action, can you post? All I've seen is the manufactures pictures, which for the Aimrite doesn't show me much besides what a bird sees. Thanks

Sorry to hear about the Atoll, my son has one and he likes it, true sometimes it flips, I DIY'ed a float that I've been using for a few months now (I think Walmart now carries the float too about $15) DIY diver float .
As for the floats can't comment on the two above, but Riffe floats are great as per a couple of spearos I dive with...good luck! |

I looked at the riffe, but thought the aimrite looked like it was more durable. I am heading out to a dive shop this morning so I guess I will find out if it is what I was looking for. Thanks for the help.

I ended up getting the aimrite. Austins in Miami had both in stock so I was actually able to see the neptonics up close next to the aimrite. Both looked amazing in terms of quality, but I ended up going with the aimrite inshore. It reminded me of my old Zodiac boat.

I have thought about the Aimrite inshore. Then I got a RA 11L hard float that should outlast any inflatable. I also have a Kelp Carrot float by Neptonics and it is a great piece of rugged equipment.
