Cressi gara 3000 hurt!!!

The Cressi sub fins are the best fins on the market but I can't figure out why they're soooo uncomfortable. Is there a solution to this problem, like stretching them somehow see...the problem feels like they're too narrow and my feet too bony to have a prolonged use without getting totally destroyed. My friend has them too and says he has the same problem. Is there another fin thats the same quality but more comfortable??????? Please Help!!!

Re: Cressi gara 3000 hurt!!!

I've got a set too, the cressi foot pocket gets narrow as it goes so if you have fatish feet then they will hurt your feet, hence why i'm currently in the market for new fins : ) they are still good fins. Maybe try some socks 3mm or even some cotton socks.

Re: Cressi gara 3000 hurt!!!

yeah thats the problem with cressi footpockets, they are made for narrow feet, my feet areant particularly wide in any way and they still hurt me after an hour or so.., the other problem is that you cant change the footpockets, its all one piece, so youre pretty much in trouble there,...try and sell these and get omer ice fins instead..should work great that would be my advice

Re: Cressi gara 3000 hurt!!!

yes they fit better on narrow feet but not on abnormally narrow feet: Cressi sells tons and tons of thousands of fins worldwide and this means something.
If they hurt it's probably a matter of size: one size more should be fine.

Re: Cressi gara 3000 hurt!!!

I had 3000's and my feet used to cramp up within 5mins, I tried thinner socks to the point that they felt like they'd fall off and it was still the same, my feet just didn't like them. Then I got some Ice with the Millenium foot pockets which were much better, but I have to use 5mm sock on one foot and 3mm on the other to be sure of no pain.

Its just a case of finding what suits your feet, you'll know when you do

Re: Cressi gara 3000 hurt!!!

I've only ever used 3000's and my original pair were tight but the next size up sorted me out. I've got wierd feed mind, more like trotters as they have a high instep and are really short! I use a 10-11 size eventhough I should be a 8-9!!

Have you considered strap backs like the Escalpez (?) ones?

Really good input you guys are great I was expecting you're a wimp, lol. I'm looking into the Omer milleniums thanx Marwan!! Are the fish less intimidated by you with these and also have they fixed their problem with the breaking? They look cool. Seems theres a lot of people with the same problem I might try out my friends, one size bigger, and check if Cressi is just not for me which sucks! The open heeled fins are very comfortable I heard and if they're long fins we might have a winner! Thanks! Check out the red grouper caught yesterday, not a big one but niceeeee. Catch em up!

Re: Cressi gara 3000 hurt!!!

My problem with the 3000 is the soft foot pocket, it bends in the middle of my foot, that is what gives me cramps. Maybe you have the same problem as well, the omer and picasso pockets are stiffer on the base of the foot so that is not a problem, the picasso is the most rigid one I am aware of as matter of fact.

Re: Cressi gara 3000 hurt!!!

Sup Enrique! Guys I have these same gara 3000 fins also 8/9 and they seem to fit well but as soon as I start kicking they begin to hurt quite a bit... its odd but when I dive they don't feel as bad as kicking on the surface. I had 10/11 and they were way big, plus I dont like wearing thick socks. I'm hoping they break in or give way cuz if not I'm afraid I may opt for a different set. Enrique your pair is too small though 7/8 and your foot is about the same size as mine. If you want I'll lend you mine in the pool so you can test them. I don't understand why these fins cause this pain, maybe has to do with the flex or the material doesn't stretch enough.... *sigh*

what happened to the grouper pic??
the cressi fins are known to be very good, but theyre not the best (if such a thing exists) so dont worry, youre not sacrificing by changing to other brands , i have tried many fins and i know rafael (strangelove) and spaghetti have too, for ME, i find the omer ice fins the best plastic fins for long surface swims and dives to 15m depth (50ft)..i dont particularly notice that they dont spook the fish, but they do spook me sometimes when i look back and cant see my fins , i find that not spooking fish has much more to do with how you enter the dive and finning technique rather then the camo pattern on your fin...
In terms of breaking, i think (i might be mistaken) that the new models of the ice now dont have screws but are sort of glued to the foot poclet which eliminats the stress points at the screws, mine do have the screws however and they are very sturdy...i dont believe the ice fins have a reputation for breaking, any fin can break i think, but the ice fins are not fragile by any means in my view...i think you will enjoy them..
happy hunting

Re: Cressi gara 3000 hurt!!!

Unfortunately when you don't have lots of buddies whose fins you can try it is yeh. But you don't have to buy whole new fins each time, most fins (though not the gara's) have interchangeable footpockets so you can use the same blades but just buy new pockets, which at least saves a little money and you can sell the old pockets on here because there is always people with the same problem trying to find a match.

Maybe we should start a foot pocket swap shop
