Cool Ice fins questions

Hi there folks.
I finally made up my mind on which fins to buy. Early this afternoon the courier has delivered my new pair of Omer Ice blades, old type with holes for screws, that I'll fit on my old Millennium footpockets.
I'll try them tomorrow in the poetic waters of Lerici.
Now the questions to Ice users.
Since some of you had their Ice broken, how did they get broken exactly?
Is it okay to dive normally among rocks with no fear of breaking them against rocks et cetera?
Did yours get broken in consequence of hitting something, or was it for structural reasons?
(should have asked before buying, but here it goes...)

Re: Ice fins questions

Mine have been battered against loads of rocks, stood on them with the blade folded under on rocks and chucked onto the rocks when getting changed and they're fine, allbeit a very scratched.

OMD's broke right near the footpocket if I recall correctly, if not right between the two screwholes so nothing to do with hitting rocks I'd guess.

They're far from fragile so don't be scared mate, you may bang you head while finning along looking back at your finless legs the first time you use them though

Re: Ice fins questions

Nice Spag, I have ordered some too and should get them next week. A buddy of mine has them and has dived roughly off the coast here and various international destinations and he loves them. Here's hoping....

Re: Ice fins questions

Spaghetti,

I can't wait to actually use mine! I've only used them in a pool...But they felt and looked so awesome!

Most of the lakes around here are still locked up with ice!
C'mon SPRING weather!

I need to spear me some fresh fish! Yum...

BTW...I did get a sore neck and bumped my head on the side of the pool pretty hard ONCE from staring at my "finless" feet!

So be careful!!!
