I need help with my new toy

Alright, I just bought this scubapro speargun at a yard sale for $2.

I now need a shaft and and a band, I think one larger band would be better than two smaller ones, but I don't know. Tell me please. I think I'm gonna try to talk to my local dive shop and see if they can help.

I think the piece that holds the line is broke, it just moves freely right now, I don't know if it will lock in when a shaft is inserted?

Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated, I'm gonna try to go for a few short dives next weekend.

Re: I need help with my new toy

That piece that holds the line does not click into place and stay rigid until the spear is notched in. It goes limp once the spear is released so that it can release the line. At least that's how it works on my sporasub...it's a pretty standard mechanism so i assume it functions the same. $2 WOW great buy. Shaft and bands will probably run $30-$40 for a new shaft and $20 for a couple of bands. Still a great deal though.

Re: I need help with my new toy

you should have bargained...never go for the retail price what were you thinking, you could have got it for 1.80$ easy!!!!
better luck next time...

On a side note, i think thats the first time the shaft and band will cost 10-20 times as much the gun

Re: I need help with my new toy

The bands can be had anywhere but I suspect the shaft will have to come from Ray Odor. The scubapro uses a non standard shaft and I think he makes them to order

Re: I need help with my new toy

Yeah, but it looks like it might be tough to find a shaft, I emailed Ray that pic in the other thread, he's working on it.

I got a lead on a 48" shaft for about $40, what do y'all think? Too long?

Re: I need help with my new toy

How long is it from the end of the muzzle to where the shaft fits into the trigger? We don't know how long your gun is

If its all you can find you can always cut it and put a new flopper on it. Not all that hard to do.
