get your knives out

after looking at an another thread, you don't need to get your knives proffessionally sharpened, you can do your own & the kitchen knives with the lansky knife sharpening kit (us product) you will find it in gun &outdoor type websites,i have one, real top draw stuff, you wont be disappointed

Re: get your knives out

the one with 3 sharpening stones,i would'nt bother with the stand, the clamp has 4 sharpening angles on it depends on how thick the blade is,it will take sometime to sharpen it first time round then you just have to keep its edge after that, good kit, will you let me know what you think sometime bud

Re: get your knives out

I have a lansky kit. It truly does an excellent job. Just make sure to match your new blade angle with the current blade angle to ensure efficient sharpening. Good luck!

Re: get your knives out

that type of thing isn't hard to find. A quick google found this:
Gatstix Tri-Sep Serration Sharpener, Personal Knife Sharpeners

and on the same search, this:
Sharpening Made Easy - Steve's Knife Sharpening Site - Knife, Scissor Sharpening

Re: get your knives out

thanks introgdor, does the sharpener have the round & the v edges on it as the blue tang blade has quite large scalloped serrations on it, was also planning a second knife like riffe stubby or longer one can ypu reccommend them

Re: get your knives out

Well, my brother has the Riffe standard spearfisherman's knife, and its pretty cool. The stubby would probably be a good investment, although if you don't already have a nice spearo knife (stiletto style) I would just get the standard size.

I can't say anything about the sharpener I linked too, I was just showing how easy it is to find such a thing. look up "ez-Lap sharpener" and go to their website to find a good one.

Re: get your knives out

I've just recieved the non riffe spearfishing knife off mori, its good but spent 2 & hours sharpening it with the lansky sharpening kit cos its factory grond to about 25 degrees,it will cut rice paper without ripping it now,i have to say though you have to cut 2 grooves on the inside of either clamp to hold it cos generally spearo knives have a diamond cross section but once set up it was ok & won't ruin the clamp for other applications,mr.X said it wouldn't clamp the knife, well he's right if you dont cut the grooves in the clamps,so if your looking to sharpen your get out of jail free cards then at least its an answer to having to pay a lot to have them done, will post some pics when i work out how to do it
