suggest your techniques for those fish :D

Hi DB members,

I started spearfishing from nearly 5 months ago, so am pretty new to the sport !
While spearfishing the last summer (that was my first dive with a gun) I faced many fish that I didn't how to ID them.

unknown 1: Those fish were taken by rods from shore ....But I saw them while spearing .. they were so fast ..and they have managed to be out of rage all of the time.
I guess they are called lee rifish (leccia in Italian) ..am I right?
Any special techniques to get them?

The one in the picture is taken by rod also. But I have managed to take one with the speargun. They were in a school of 3, I managed to take the last one ...never the less, they were also fast.
What is their name?
any technique ?

I think they are called Bream (sargo in Italian).
any technique else than the "ug ug" sound from the throat ...or hitting your aluminum gun with your knife?

Hey, for Sargo - you have to ambush them, waiting for as long as you can, hidden in rocks/kelp, where they usually hide. In the Med you would have to dive to seven meters at least or so and hold your breath for more than minute down to get them. Sometimes, if cracks between stones are wide enough you can try to detect them in their hideaways, but usually they hide in such narrow passages, that it is hard to get them in the Med.
Where do you spearfish in Egypt, may I ask?

im also in the med, and also just began spearfishing.
where i am, its amazingly hard to catch larger bream, because they are so easily scared off. the smaller ones are pretty easy. on rocky coast you can find them here in very shallow (less than 50 cm) of water, even very good sized fish.
for the very big ones either a rocky or mixed bottom, in 7 meters or deeper. very very easily scared off.

the fish in the second picture seems to be of a similar type like the ones in the picture i posted. here, they move in groups, of about 5 to probably a hundred fish.
they way i get them is just lie still at the surface very still for a while, and if i stay long enough they will come shooting towards me very suddenly, and come very close, even between me and my gun. choose one and shoot it. what has happened to me way too many times is that i get so excited when they show up that i shoot at the first one, and either get a small one, or more often miss, in whichcase they are gone as fast as they came. you can usually meet them several times, if you swim a bit further and wait again, they will come back. they taste really good just fried, and fight pretty well for their size.

the ones in the first picture im not so sure, but they look similar to what is called palomine here. they are on sandy beaches usually, very curious and also in shallow water. ive never shot one though, but caught some fishing.

The bottom fish in the last image looks like a grey mullet to me. Yes, they really don't like being speared. Do you have minimum size limits on fish that can be taken there, to preserve fish stocks?
