Santa Barbara Island Boundaries

Last year I went camping for 3 days at SB island. I brought my gun thinking there was a legal and illegal area and I would just hunt where I could. I am very recreational and only hunt 4-10 days a year. The volunteer ranger saw the gun and kinda chewed me out saying there was NO hunting anywhere. The day we left I saw a map that said we could hunt!

I am going back in two weeks. I am trying to find a map but have mainly found longitude and latitude and while I would love to say I can read that well....I cant, sorry.

As far as I know anything near the rookery is off limits, (fine) everywhere else is fair game? Still searching....

Just got back from a local dive shop and they said DO NOT hunt there, not because of boundaries but because of seals. I wont be anywhere near the rookery. Are they THAT aggressive? I wont if its stupid to do so but with a kayak above me are they gonna come at me that quick?

It would be a good idea to contact the local Fish & Game office and ask them about the boundaries. They're usually quite helpful in such matters, and they know a lot more about spearfishing regulations than the volunteers. Just call their office and ask
I don't know about seals, haven't had a problem with them. Some species are very aggressive, and some people are more concerned about seals than sharks.
