Hello my name is Arob and I live in Toronto Canada
I'm a SCUBA diver too, but I don't have it together yet to fish while diving.. ie spear fishing I guess that would be but maybe you could also net fish too while down in the murky depths.... I always though it would be fun to swim with the fishes while encircling them in a giant net to catch them and kill them and EAT THEM ALL. ![]() Here is my buddy TONY BALONEY (no really that's what we call him) fishing near Scarlett Rd (Jane St) and Eglington in the Humber river in late fall of 2007. The water was chilly and the fish were biting - that day Tony and I caught 6 sunfish, 2 perch, 1 bass which I kept and ate - and I feel fine. Urban fishing is catching on here in Toronto.

Toronto is four hours by car (good car) away from Quebec and five hours from Montreal
There is very little commercial diving work in Southern Ontario and lots of old men divers who want that work - but there might be more opportunities in Northern Ontario. I know for a fact however that east coast of Canada is crying for commercial divers and west coast too I imagine. Hope that helps

Hello fisher man ! Are there really lots of fish in the sea ???????????????
So, what I understood is that Toronto is in the south of ontario . But Ontario it's a lake or a state ? Sorry for my ignorance . France is so small we don' have the same dimension ...for instance, on the map, Toronto and quebec were very near... 4 hours driving, it's sounds like miles away!!!! In canda, do you need any fishing licence for fishing ? In france, you need and you have to renew evry year. |

Ontario is a province of Canada, similar to Quebec - actually its nothing like Quebec whatsoever but they are both provinces of Canada and so they are similar in that one respect.
There are lots of fish in the rivers and lakes of southern Ontario - but there is much much more in the northern regions. My absolute favourite place to fish is Lake of the Woods in Kenora Ontario

![]() The main difference it's that you can spearfish in Quebec but not in Ontario. All the others are really minor... ![]() |

It seems that Quebec is a beautiful province. That's sounds great to me. In your fisrt message , Arrob, you said that they "crying" for divers. I am currently looking for job in diving field, mostly to get informations about wages, works conditions...If you've got any advices ou job sites...

Hi Arob,
Funny post. At least you guys were fishing up stream from the water treatment plant on the Humber. Down on the Lakeshore end, you can find many "Brown" trout, on heavy rain days. It's a shame really, just imagine the underwater playground if they kept it clean. I use to fish on the Trent Severn by Big Chute. You can find Muskie, Pickerel, Pike and money that has fallen out of drunken boaters pockets going over the railway. Over the years with more and more people around, there seems to be less fish. Popysabelle, to give you an idea of scale, you can fit 1.7 Frances (643000 sqkm) inside the province of Ontario(1050000 sqkm). Toronto to Montreal is almost like going from Marseille to Paris. So far this year Montreal has had 334 cm of snow (11ft) and 14cm expected tonight, so bring your Parka and boots. |
