Talking Hunting barracuda in Ibiza

I have been so lucky to find a job in Ibiza, as a scuba diver.. , staying here for the whole summer season.
As you guys probably know, scuba diving and spearfishing do not go well together, I was asked, by my boss from the scuba school not to go sperafishing ( not a good for the image of the diving center, understandable though)..
Anyways, I went in the water a couple of times to look for some good spots...as you can imagine, was doing a couple of espettos, a nice dentex...right in front of me..but no gun ..
anyways today I went to this spot WITH my gun, no dentex , but on my last espetto, at about 9 meters....5 or 6 barracudas right in front of me, did not hesitate, shot the biggest one...about 1meter long ..emptied 20 meters of my real!
I did not have many encounters with them yet and ask myself which is the best way to hunt them?
Then...the other problem, I had to go walking, past the center, through the village, with that barracuda...this is gonna cost me my job I thought, so I gave it away to a local fisherman..he was quiet happy..
The gun is still in the sea so I can go more often and do not have to walk with my gun through the village..
Put the gun in a crack, put a few stones in front of it... ..hope nobody will find it!!
Greets!!

hehe, spearo clandestino.
good going. I've only shot one barracuda. My experience from that time was that since they are often one of the top predators in the area they are not nervous. The one I shot just swam up very close to me to check me out, at the surface, and then I shot it. It pulled out half my floatline. It was a little scary grabbing it by the gills, those barracuda teeth inspire respect. I've read in some thread that they tend to rush in whatever direction they are headed when they are shot and because of this it's not smart to shoot them straight from the front, since it could rush into you and you risk getting hurt by your own spear or the barracudas teeth.

Won't the salt water start causing trouble for your gun over time? Trigger rust etc. I would get a bag or pvc pipe and put it in there so no one can tell what you are walking with.
