i visit almost every summer; nice place to dive; visibility = 30m; lots of caves, wrecks, big fishes, shells, crabs, national parks; for scuba diving u need a license and a permit; tourist agencies are getting more and more organized; in national parks spearfishing is illegal -> controls are quite often; it is illegal to collect the shell in the 1st attachment smaller than 10cm and the shell in the 2nd attachment is even bigger

there are 2 chambers for decompression illness in whole coast

im living in croatia for 3 years now and go spearfishing every other day.
ive never been controlled but maybe Im just lucky. In croatia it is illegal to collect the shell of your second attachement at all. The penalties are very bad for collecting them.

true, true, its illegal to collect 2nd shell at all; but people do it, at night also; for shure we encountered kapetanija/ coast guard 1x/ season; we were on a boat; usually thay checked passports and crew list only; but i've seen searches form tip to bottom; on the border, customs officer usually has no problem with u having a spear gun

never been on Hvar; i am not a spearhunter; my targets are shells, octopus but i fish a lot when iam at sea

I ve never collected shells but sounds very interesting. I hunt octopus also over here
and especially on the south side of hvar you got some very good positions. Not the biggest ones but once i caught six of them in about 80 minutes wich made more then 9Kg

+ crabs too. there's a lot for non spear hunter in the sea too

I never saw any non spear hunter but it sounds interesting. I also caught an octopus
with my hands once, but usually I got my Speargun with me. My friend is hunting crabs here also, but just along the coastline without getting wet too much.

I love freediving in Hvar. I caught some octopuses two years ago.
