Puff balls, for me, mean summers coming to a close and autumn's on it's way.
Mart, I seem to remember you're a bit of a fungi expert, do you have some good puff ball recipes?
When I was younger a friend and me would collect a couple , take them home and cut a big slice each, fry them in butter flavoured with garlic and lemon and serve them on toast made from crusty bread, big twist of black pepper and there, a breakfast fit for kings.
However you do it, enjoy.

Hi Foxfish, I picked up a baitcaster rod cheap at the weekend for use from the kayak. It is, just as you describe. The limitations you describe are, I think, acceptable for the intended use. I didn't want to spend much on a real (the life of a kayak fish gear is hard and quite possibly very short) but I ordered a reel last night, rather than delay further. More on that over at the "Sea Angling for spearos" thread.

Do you have any experience of baitcasting reels? They are cheap and plentiful in the US but expensive and unusual in the UK it seems

Crimeny! Wifie has me unloading all the plants so I can pressure wash the deck, rails house etc. Fuel line is broken & have to replace, (all the plants are in the yard though including the 2 - 10 ton potted ferns), spider chased off, mud dauber nests down and a gaggle of red paper wasps day was ruined (permanently--sent to wasp Hades). On the bright side I found no scorpions or Black Widows. Giant toad is pissed at being relocated and wifie will be severely annoyed when she pulls up & job not done (gone a week to Austin and back tonight--didn't finish the honeydoo). Guess I could text and give advance warning about fuel line and avoid some grief--what an inspiration. AND THEN YOU BUST MY CHOPS ABOUT SLOW RESPONSE????? (joke) It's nice someone notices the efforts to welcome newbies and get them enthused too. Cheers, I'm off to the new store in La Vernia I posted to a month ago for the evening work festivites. Hi mate,It gets cold after 1 1/2 to 2 hours,7mm top,5mm bottoms. Nice in the sun! can't believe the UK do a 6hour comp in April!

Warming upslowly and more fish moving-looking forward to a few more silver bars appearing. Can't go in again for another week.

Just had spider crab and Jersy royals (and white wine) cracking evening.
